As part of Middle House & Hoffman House renovations, the Moses Brown School wished to develop the exterior courtyard as a memorial garden to honor the Rocchio Family. By carefully reconfiguring walkways and using visual cues in the form of varying paving materials, paving patterns, and plant selection; we were successful in creating a sense of place without interfering with building egress & campus circulation.
- Outdoor class room & picnic area,
- Informal lawn space within the garden to invite people to sit and enjoy the space,
- Native & ornamental plantings.
This project was completed by Mark J Butler, Jr. and Gates, Leighton & Associates during 2007 – 2008 where Mark held the position of Senior
Landscape Designer and Project Manager at the East Providence based firm.
